A man leaves a consultation room facing a choice. It should be a pretty straightforward choice. Take the pill and live. Don’t take the pill and die. But the decision proves to be more difficult; does he risk losing his life or risk no longer being the person he has been all of his life?

Challenging perceptions of what it is to live with mental illness, Gods & Kings is a bracingly honest and often hugely funny real-life story.

Pembrokeshire, 1982. Things are going to change.

One of the most powerful partnerships in European theatre, Gary Owen and Rachel O’Riordan, team-up once again following the success of Killology and Iphigenia in Splott. This autumn, as part of the Russia 17 series, they take on Chekhov’s masterpiece. This radical reworking places the action in early 80s Wales, at the dawn of another revolution – the Thatcher regime. This regime swept away the post-war consensus and created the country we live in today.

Those who have seen The Cherry Orchard before will be able to experience the play as if for the first time. Those who are new to the play will encounter a powerful version of one of the greatest of all plays. If you missed Killology, book as early as you can to secure your seats for what promises to be a major theatrical event.
