The HeARTh Gallery is delighted to present the first solo exhibition by Cardiff based artist, writer and filmmaker, Paul Whittaker.
miscellaneous RULES explores how each and every one of us lives by a set of rules. Some of these are generated by the society and culture we live in, some by our families, our social circles, our churches, our media and of course, by ourselves.
Our rules dictate how we live our lives.
The HeARTh first met Paul when he exhibited in the gallery with Disability Arts Cymru as part of the Walls: Muriau Welsh Mental Health Arts Festival in 2016. Fascinated and intrigued by Paul’s fresh and inspiring approach in communicating the lived experience of mental health through film, writing and installation, Paul was invited to develop work for the gallery.
Paul Whittaker was diagnosed with Bi-Polar Manic Depression whilst studying for his BA in Film, Paul has spent his life exploring his condition through the Arts and working with the Public Sector. Several of his projects made with Public Health Wales have received national and international recognition. Paul has exhibited as a digital artist, worked in theatre, television, dance as well as independent film. His numerous clients include – The Sherman Theatre, The Old Vic, Channel 4, Mind Cymru, Public Health Wales and Arts Council Wales.
We hope that you will be able to visit this intriguing exhibition and join us in a conversation with Paul Whittaker at 4pm on Wednesday 24th January
