Write to Play
An opportunity for our friends over the bridge……….
Graeae, together with our South West partners, are offering a unique development opportunity for D/deaf and disabled writers in South West England* to develop their skills and experience.
Write to Play is a paid year-long new writing course for D/deaf and disabled writers run by award-winning theatre company Graeae, in partnership with Theatre Royal Plymouth, Wiltshire Creative, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Nuffield Southampton Theatres and the Ustinov Studio at Theatre Royal Bath.
Over the year, you will write two short pieces as well as a full-length play. Throughout the programme, you’ll be mentored and supported to participate in workshops led by theatre professionals to hone and develop your writing. You’ll write two short pieces, as well as a full-length play. Successful writers will be paid £1800 over the year (paid in instalments).
If you’re passionate about theatre, keen to write for the stage and gain experience, we want to hear from you! All access requirements will be met.
“Write to Play is the most inspiring and encouraging opportunity I have had as a writer. I have had access to workshops, mentors and the Graeae team, all of who have helped me to explore my writing in ways not possible before. Apply, it will change your life forever.” Khush Chahal
“Write to Play has been informative, inspiring and emotional. This is not one of those schemes that only exists on paper to make a place look good, Graeae have been understanding and sensitive and have continued to support me as a writer and artist beyond the end of the scheme.” Jackie Hagan
