Prosperity for All

Grants will be allocated to projects that can demonstrate that they are able to make a contribution to delivering the Welsh Government’s strategy, Prosperity for All, which describes a long-term aim to build a Wales that is prosperous and secure, healthy and active, ambitious and learning, and united and connected.

The strategy identifies five priority areas which have the potential to make the greatest contribution to long-term prosperity and well-being. These are early years, better mental health, housing, skills and employability and social care. They are areas where it has been shown that earlier intervention and more seamless services can make a real difference to people’s lives.

The Volunteering Wales Grants for 2019/20 will support volunteering projects that contribute towards achieving outcomes in one or more of the priority areas.

Volunteering by young people is encouraged and supported through this grant scheme and a percentage of the funding available has been ring fenced to support projects that exclusively recruit young volunteers aged 14 – 25.

Wales Millennium Centre

Hunt for Volunteers

Wales Millennium Centre is Wales’ national arts centre – a hub of creativity in the heart of Cardiff Bay.

We are looking for volunteer ushers to immerse themselves in art, culture and creativity in an innovative and rewarding way.

Through our commitment to creating inspirational and life-changing experiences that broadens horizons, we are delighted to announce that we will be welcoming our community to engage further in the arts through participation in a brand new volunteering scheme.

We welcome expressions of interest from anyone who wants to experience what we have to offer.

In the first instance, we are looking for Volunteer Ushers to help enhance our world-class customer service.

You’ll join our fantastic Customer Experience team, whose main role is to give the public a warm Welsh welcome to the Centre, and ensure that all visitors are able to enjoy the Centre in a safe and welcoming environment.

All of our volunteers receive an induction and full training, together with a uniform and badge. Volunteers will also be able to watch the diverse range of shows as part of our ever increasing artistic programme.

Volunteer Role Description

As a volunteer at the Wales Millennium Centre, you will be at the core of our customer experience. You will act as an usher and ensure health and safety standards are met within venues at the Centre. You’ll also get to watch the diverse range of shows as part of our ever increasing artistic programme.

We’re hoping that our volunteers will do on average 3 shifts per month, but if you’d like to spend more time with us the Centre, you are more than welcome to. Shifts tend to be no longer than 5 hours, and should they be any longer we will let our volunteers know.

Everyone is eligible to apply for a volunteering position, however we prioritise applicants from the Cardiff area.

If successful you will be required to attend an induction.

Please note that you must be available for the induction dates.
