PINOCCHIO – Carlo Collodi. La Baldufa Theatre, Catalonia.

Tuesday 19th March 2019

Presented by Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch  as part of the Agor Drysau-Opening Doors International Festival 2018 supported by the Arts Council of Wales’ Lottery Fund.

Pinocchio is the story of a child free from prejudices: he’s disobedient and mischievous, yet at the same time naïve. Really naïve. Geppetto, his father, tries to watch over his education. In return, Pinocchio, ever disobedient, is drawn into a series of adventures which will make him grow as a person and very nearly… with a surprising end.

This is a fantastic and fabulous new interpretation. Paper and wood are used to create a production which is multifaceted and organic, through which we can dive into the imagination of a child-puppet – a tale which invites us to reflect on values such as education, graft, responsibility and sincerity.

No language.

Recommended audience age for family performances: 6 years and upwards

Recommended audience age for school performances: from 8 to 11 years

Open Captioned performance of Frankenstein by Cascade Dance

 Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon
13th November 2018

Celebrating 200 years since the publication of Mary Shelley’s masterpiece; Cascade breathes new life into a story that has become so much more to us than its 19th Century origins.
Visceral and engaging, Cascade’s production brings to the stage all the potency, drama and tragic inevitability that has made the original novel beloved of generation after generation.

We all know Frankenstein; the tale of the monster made of and by man. A cautionary tale, a creation story, an outsider story…a love story.

This November, a new Frankenstein is born as a company of six performers and two musicians bring to life Artistic Director Phil Williams’ compelling new adaptation of the ultimate gothic fantasy.

Supported by the Arts Council of Wales, Welsh Government and the National Lottery, with additional support from Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Ty Cerdd and Creu Cymru.

Cascade Dance Theatre in coproduction with Taliesin Arts Centre

Every performance of Frankenstein will feature open captioning for D/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing audience members.

Brecon Little Theatre

Alice in Wonderland

Relaxed Performance

Friday 1st June 2018

Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon

Brecon Little Theatre and Theatre Brycheiniog are proud to present their co-production of ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ Join us on a mad journey to Wonderland meeting beloved characters like the Mad Hatter, The Cheshire Cat and of course the odious Queen of Hearts. You’ll love this local community production; it’s written by The Westenders very own Julie Jones and directed by Rosie Mellerick so you know you’ll be in for a music and dance extravaganza for all the family to enjoy.

The relaxed performance is an adaption of their regular show to extend a warm welcome to anyone who might find it difficult to follow the usual conventions of theatre etiquette and especially those on the autistic spectrum, those who may make involuntary noises, or anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed environment.

During a relaxed performance House Lights are left on low and strobe lighting may be removed. Loud noises or explosions are either taken out entirely or reduced. The audience is free to go in and out as needed and latecomer rules are relaxed. Making noise during the performance is not discouraged. There are additional staff members on hand to assist as required and the cast and crew has awareness training before the performance.

The house will open earlier to give everyone plenty of time to get to their seats.

People with a learning or physical disability, autistic spectrum condition, or sensory or communication disorder are especially welcome. This performance is open to people of all ages.

As well as this fantastic show, Brecon Little Theatre will also be running craft workshops in the theatre in the week running up to the show where children can make some of the props that will be seen in the show.

On Monday 28 May, 2-6pm, the workshop will involve making flowers and cakes for the set.
On Tuesday 29 May, 10am- 1pm the workshop will be a Mad Hatter’s Hat Making Workshop.

There will also be a Mad Hatter’s Tea party on Saturday 26 May, 4-6pm.

Further performances on June 2nd at 2pm and 7pm and June 3rd at 2pm

A Brave Face

Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon

April 28th 2018 7.30pm

“Dear mum, things are a bit tough right now. But don’t worry – I’m ok. I’ll tell you about it when I get back.”

Afghanistan: 2009. Under bright blue skies, a small girl stands and watches the soldier. She smiles, just like his sister…

Ryan is there to see the world, learn a trade, get a life. Training is complete, combat is a buzz; he’s part of a team, and knows his job. But on one particular hot and desperate tour of duty, Ryan sees things he can’t talk about, to anyone. And then, when he returns home, the trouble really begins.

Created from two years of research with ex and serving soldiers, families and health professionals, A Brave Face explores Post-Traumatic Stress, an unseen and often unrecognised injury of war, and the impact it can have on even the closest of families. With compassion and fearlessness, Vamos brings its trademark, wordless, full mask style to a story that needs to be told.

Vamos Theatre is the UK’s leading full mask theatre company. Praised by press and public alike for its consummate full mask skills, engaging storytelling, physical dexterity and emotional insight, the company continues to involve and engage audiences across borders and boundaries, taking on challenging themes with poignancy, humour and humanity.

A Brave Face is suitable for audiences aged 12 years and upwards, and is accessible to hearing and deaf audiences alike.

Vamos Theatre’s A Brave Face is a co-production with Mercury Theatre Colchester and a co-commission with London International Mime Festival.

Little Wolf by Simon Harris

Thursday 16th November 7:30pm

Friday 17th November 2pm – this performance will be Captioned

When a young boy mysteriously disappears, Freddie and Rita are forced to confront the truth of their marriage.

Is their love too fragile for the truth? As their worlds fracture and collide, what is there worth holding on to? Little Wolf is an intense, surreal and honest exploration of a couple who find themselves facing their ultimate fear.

Inspired by Henrik Ibsen’s play Little Eyolf, this is a present-day retelling of a compelling classic of modern drama.

From award-winning writer and director Simon Harris, Little Wolf is a play that speaks to the heart of our current uncertainty – one that’s vital, raw and often blisteringly funny.

With a post-show talk on Thursday’s evening performance.

Friday’s matinee performance is captioned.
