Building a Brighter Future in Tech

New Dates

Unfortunately, due to the snow, the Bangor event, which was scheduled to take place on St. David’s Day (1/3/18) was postponed.  There is now a new date of 25th April

The hugely successful Building a Brighter Future in Tech is returning in 2018 with new events to promote career paths in the tech industry.

Following the initial success of its inaugural event in Techniquest in 2017, the free events run by Codez Academy in partnership with Technocamps and the Welsh Government will be held in Neuadd Reichel, Bangor on 25 April.

During the course of the events, attendees will have the chance to participate in a number of workshops delivered by seasoned tech industry professionals around problem solving, HTML, social media presence and beginning your journey into tech.  It is hoped that these workshops will answer common questions and will help break down barriers for those considering moving into tech roles.

Tech for Good Funding Programme (UK)

Comic Relief has teamed up with the Paul Hamlyn Foundation to deliver the 2018 Tech for Good funding programme. The programme recognises the importance of digital technology and its potential to address some of our biggest social challenges and the 2018 funding programme will aim to help 12 not-for-profit organisations to develop their digital products or services. Successful organisations will receive funding of £15,000 – £47,000 for nine months alongside access to dedicated technical expertise and an intensive support programme between July 2018 and March 2019. This will include a residential camp at the start to connect the funded projects with leading tech for good experts, and ongoing mentoring and report back days. A public ‘wrap-up’ event at the end of the funding will allow the projects to show what they have created with the grant and support.
The application process will open on the 13th November and the closing date for applications will be the 20th December 2018. Read more at:
