Literature Wales has recently announced that the next round of Bursaries and Mentoring is now open for submission. The schemes are open to emerging and experienced writers alike.
The LITERATURE WALES WRITERS’ BURSARIES enable writers to develop new work without any firm commitment to its publication. This gives writers
the opportunity to venture into new territory and develop their artistic process, providing them with the time and resources to research, write, review and reflect.
A SUPPORT FUND BURSARY is a sum of up to £1,000 for writers with mobility problems or disabilities in need of specialist equipment and assistance to enable them to develop their work in progress.
The MENTORING SCHEME offers support and practical advice to writers at the start of their careers by offering them a place on a bespoke mentoring course as well as a series of one-to-one sessions with an experienced writer in order to develop a specific work in progress to a publishable standard.
THE CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS FOR 2019 BURSARIES AND MENTORING IS 5.00 PM ON TUESDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 2018.
The guidelines and application forms for the 2019 Literature Wales Writers’ Bursaries and 2019 Mentoring are available to download from the Literature Wales website.

Part of TYFU | GROW – Theatr Clwyd’s Creative Development Programme
Generously supported by the Gladstone’s Library
In Collaboration with Paines Plough
Call out to Welsh Language writers!
Applications open until Friday 23 March 2018
This year, Theatr Clwyd are once again co-producing the Roundabout Season with Paines Plough. Three brand new plays will be premièred on the doorstep of Theatr Clwyd in the award-winning pop-up theatre that is the Roundabout, before going on to the Edinburgh Festival and then a UK tour.
As part of Theatr Clwyd’s TYFU programme and our commitment to becoming a home for writers in Wales, we are inviting three Welsh language writers to work alongside the Roundabout company. Each writer will develop a 10-minute script that will be performed in the Roundabout when the season opens at Theatr Clwyd.
The Theatr Clwyd Roundabout Welsh Residency will offer our three writers the chance to get to know other artists, spend time observing rehearsals and develop ideas in a supportive environment.
The 2018 Residency includes:
- Monday 16 – Wednesday 18 April: 3 days in London as the Roundabout Season rehearsals begin – meeting the acting company, creative team and writers, and experiencing the first days of work on the new scripts.
- Week commencing Monday 4 June: 3 days at Theatr Clwyd to observe rehearsals in the Roundabout itself and time in the main building to start script development.
- Monday 25 – Saturday 30 June: 6 days at Theatr Clwyd to work with a director and 3 actors, further developing and rehearsing the script.
- Saturday 30 June: Performances of the three 10-minute scripts in the Roundabout.
Each writer will be given a bursary to cover travel, subsistence and expenses + a fee of £500

Are you writing:
non-fiction such as a biography, or short stories, poetry, drama or a novel, and do you self-identify as a disabled person/or have a long-term physical or mental health condition?
Would you like to work:
At no cost to you
with other writers in a small and friendly group to develop your work?
How about finding out about one of our groups who get together every month?
If you write in Welsh, we have a group that meets in Caernarfon, or if you write in English, we have a new group that meets in Pwllheli. And both groups have the opportunity to participate in workshops at Tŷ Newydd Writers’ Centre in Llanystumdwy. Earlier this year, we published a pamphlet of work by the Welsh writers’ group (available for free download here: http://bit.ly/1lkkeUe If you are interested in knowing about this Welsh pamphlet, Dyma Ni, but don’t read Welsh, here’s a link to some information in English about it: http://bit.ly/1NMLtSr ), and we hope to be able to publish work by members of both groups in 2016.

Ydych chi’n ysgrifennu:
pethau ffeithiol fel bywgraffiad, neu straeon byrion, cerddi, neu drama, ac yn hunan-nodi fel person anabl ac/neu oes gennych gyflwr iechyd corfforol neu feddyliol hirdymor?
Ydych chi’n ffansio gweithio:
Heb unrhyw gost i chi
efo ysgrifennwyr eraill mewn grŵp bach cyfeillgar er datblygu’ch gwaith?
Beth am ffeindio allan am un o’n grwpiau ysgrifennu sy’n dod at eu gilydd bob mis?
Am ysgrifenwyr drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg, mae’r grŵp yn cael ei gyfarfod yng Nghaernarfon, ac am ysgrifenwyr yn Saesneg, mae gennym un newydd ym Mhllheli. Mae’r dau grŵp hefyd yn cael cyfle mynd i weithdau yng Nghanolfan Ysgrifennu Tŷ Newydd yn Llanystumdwy. Yn 2015, roedd gennym gyfle cyhoeddi pamffled gwaith y grŵp Caernarfon (ar gael yma http://bit.ly/1lkkeUe ), ac rydym yn gobeithio cyhoeddi gwaith gan y dau grŵp yn 2016.
