WOW Film Festival begins Thursday 21st March


 

The 2019 WOW Film Festival opens at Aberystwyth Arts Centre before travelling to The Riverfront Newport, Taliesin Arts Centre Swansea, Theatr Clwyd Mold, Kinokulture Oswestry, Theatr Gwaun Fishguard, Theatr MwldanCardigan, Queen’s Hall Narberth and The Courtyard Hereford.

  • We have Abercon, a special anime themed event at Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Saturday 23rd March.
  • Dr Francesca Fois will give a talk about shamanism in Brazil alongside The Dead and the Others
  • Prof. Michael Woods will give a talk on the “global-rural” on Sunday 24th March, with a director Q&A with Gaetano Crivano and Margherita Pisano.
  • Flore Cosquer from the Scottish Documentary Institute will give a Q&A following Freedom Fields, about the Libyan women’s football team on Tuesday 26th March.

Women are highly visible in this year’s festival, and we believe that women are making some of the most interesting and innovative films in world cinema today! Particular highlights include Cathy Yen’s Dead PigsMouly Surya’s Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts and Alice Rohrwacher’s Happy as Lazzaro.
