Home based; North/ Mid Wales
31,397- £36,392 plus excellent benefits
Fixed Term Contract
Closing Date: January 30, 2017 at 8:00 am
Funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund, The ‘My MS – My Rights, My Choices’ project will champion the lives, families and carers of people living with MS in Wales. It will ensure that they have access to the support they require, at the time of their choice, and that it’s delivered in a way that best suits their individual needs.
To achieve this, in 2017 the MS Society will establish a dedicated information, advice and advocacy service across Wales. This service will be supported by a network of trained volunteers and will deliver the following programme of support and guidance:
•Provide people with MS access to a rolling programme of bespoke information and advice workshops from the point of diagnosis. This is so they can understand their rights and choices and help them come to terms with their diagnosis
•Individually tailored support plans and personalised one-to-one support to enable them to exercise their rights, self manage their condition or, for those who are unable to advocate on their own behalf, access representation
•Access complementary emotional support via the teams of volunteers to reduce social isolation and identify local opportunities for peer networking and mutual support.
The project represents the first of its kind in the UK for people with MS. It will not only help people with MS to build their personal resilience and maintain their independence, but also relieve the extra pressure placed on their family members and carers.
Interview date: 13 and 14 February 2017
The MS Society is committed to promoting diversity.
