Join us for a fabulous evening of art and deliciousness and feel good about supporting  a great cause!

Celf o Gwmpas in partnership with Disability Arts Cymru (DAC) is delighted to present the “In Residence” exhibition, featuring the work of artists who took part in a ground-breaking residency programme for disabled artists.

The evening is also a fundraiser to support the work of Celf O Gwmpas, providing high quality, enriching arts experiences for disabled and socially excluded people.

The exhibition features four artists: Lou Lockwood, Dawn McIntyre, Jack McClafferty and Jo Munton. Each spent time in residence at Celf o Gwmpas between October and January researching, experimenting and developing their work:

Lou Lockwood’s residency is entitled Imprint – a further experiment in touch memory. Lou developed ideas using pin hole cameras.

Jack McClafferty used his time with us to develop a series of art works and ideas, in response to the language and landscape of Wales.

Dawn McIntyre’s residency – Sanguis et Capillum (Blood and Hair) – focusses on creating a self-portrait using abstracted images of organic materials, studied under a microscope.

Jo Munton – We Are Innocent When We Dream – explores sleep and dream, narcolepsy/ cataplexy and that strange place between waking and sleeping.

The evening will also feature “must-see” performances from Talkestra and Jo Munton (Vagabondi Puppets).

Celf o Gwmpas

Artist in Residence

Centre Celf are delighted to welcome their second artist in residence, Dawn McIntyre.

McIntyre’s residency entitled Sanguis et Capillum will focus on creating a self-portrait using abstracted images of organic materials, studied under a microscope.

Throughout November, McIntyre plans to develop a series of portraits looking at different elements of self, to enable viewers to see aspects of the artist and to identify with themselves.

McIntyre’s paintings and sketches capture images which translate the experience of places to which she has travelled, using materials she finds fascinating at a particular moment in time.

The four residencies in partnership with Disability Arts Cymru are funded by the Arts Council of Wales and provide a unique experience for Disabled Artists living in Wales to develop their artistic practice.
