We would like to introduce the Face 2 Face North Wales Project. If you work with families who have disabled children we hope this will be of interest to you. Please feel free to call or email and they would be happy to come and chat to you.
This project has been funded by the big lottery, with the aim of setting up a network of befriending schemes for parents who have newly diagnosed disabled children.
The project will recruit and Scope will train parents that are interested in becoming befrienders and meet the criteria. All befrienders must have a child with a disability that has been diagnosed for at least 2 years.
They are looking to work with partners in lots of different ways, including:
They will help and support both in time and financially the set up of Face 2 Face befriending schemes within pre-existing projects and organisations. They hope this will ensure schemes become sustainable. They would like to keep everyone informed on where the project is and how its going with 3 monthly schemes networking meetings which you will be welcome to attend. Scheme co-ordinators within these organisations will need referrals for support and also volunteer referrals to be passed on to them and they need your help and support to achieve this.
Promotion of the project is also vital through networks and they would like partners to pass on brief details of the project through their networks. They hope that this project will improve the lives of newly diagnosed families and also empower existing ones and they need help to get the project well known.
They are hoping to start the first of many Face 2 Face schemes throughout North Wales as soon as possible If you would like them to they will come along and chat to you about the project and possible ways they can link.
