Arts Council of Wales at Skills Cymru 2017

Venue Cymru, Llandudno, 4 October 2017, 5pm-7pm
Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, 11 October 2017, 4.00pm-6.30pm

We’re in Llandudno at Skills Cymru this week, if you are too please come over and say hi! We are delighted to have the Young Person’s Laureate for Wales, Sophie McKeand, joining us on the stand and the talented Mr Phormula and Little Light Company over in our Get Skilled area. There will be drop in sessions where you can take part in some punk poetry, experience digital art or even show off your mad skills at beat boxing!

The following week we are at Skills Cymru Cardiff with another incredible gathering of creative professionals. There will be some dazzling performances and puppetry workshops from Familia De La Noche, and you can even come make a mini movie in our Slo-Mo booth with Storm and Shelter. Our Get Skilled area in Cardiff will be a hive of creative making opportunities, you will have the chance to make a bracelet with award winning jewellery designer Karen Dell’Armi and create a beautiful piece of textile work with the outstanding Laura Thomas.

Ourselves and the creative professionals at these events will be happy to talk to you about careers within in the creative sector, feel free to ask questions with wild abandon and try out a skill or too.

The events are ticketed, free and aimed at 15-18 year olds, their teachers and parents.

We’ll leave you with a little careers advice from the fabulous Sophie McKeand:

“Don’t give up or stand still. Keep striving & evolving & learn to love the weird bits of your creativity: you don’t have to fit in anywhere.”
