We are pleased to announce that the ATRiuM, Cardiff  have given us the privilege of hosting this years Zoom Summer School at their amazing venue in the heart of Cardiff.

How to produce and direct your own projects. Professional tutors, professional equipment.

Each day builds on practical film making exercises that will help you understand how to operate professional level cameras, edit your own material and create your own stories.

This year we are focussing on making pop promos. In small groups – of no more than 4 young people – the film making groups will each produce their own pop promo from concept through to realisation.

Face 2 Face North Wales Project

ScopeWe would like to introduce the Face 2 Face North Wales Project. If you work with families who have disabled children we hope this will be of interest to you. Please feel free to call or email and they would be happy to come and chat to you.

This project has been funded by the big lottery, with the aim of setting up a network of befriending schemes for parents who have newly diagnosed disabled children.

The project will recruit and Scope will train parents that are interested in becoming befrienders and meet the criteria. All befrienders must have a child with a disability that has been diagnosed for at least 2 years.

They are looking to work with partners in lots of different ways, including:

They will help and support both in time and financially the set up of Face 2 Face befriending schemes within pre-existing projects and organisations. They hope this will ensure schemes become sustainable. They would like to keep everyone informed on where the project is and how its going with 3 monthly schemes networking meetings which you will be welcome to attend.  Scheme co-ordinators within these organisations will need referrals for support and also volunteer referrals to be passed on to them and they need your help and support to achieve this.
Promotion of the project is also vital through networks and they would like partners to pass on brief details of the project through their networks. They hope that this project will improve the lives of newly diagnosed families and also empower existing ones and they need help to get the project well known.

They are hoping to start the first of many Face 2 Face schemes throughout North Wales as soon as possible If you would like them to they will come along and chat to you about the project and possible ways they can link.

Tu Fewn

Announcing the Commissions:

Tu-fewn LOGOThere was a high quality of applications for Tu Fewn and after a very thorough process of shortlisting and interviewing, the three Tu Fewn commissioners were selected on April 15th.

The selected commissioners are:

  • Ffotogallery to commission a Disabled artist to be part of the 2015 diffusion festival in 2015, specifically the Diffussion Experience – a non gallery element of the Festival. There is great potential for an International artist to be commissioned.
  • g39 to commission a guest curator for a 12 month period in 2015-2016.
  • Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre to commission a mid career artist/maker to curate an exhibition at the arts centre during the next two years.

Tu Fewn is a fresh development opportunity for all arts organisations in Wales to commission new high quality work by Disabled visual artists from across the UK and Internationally. Working in partnership with Disability Arts Cymru, DASH will be working across the whole of Wales starting this year.

Personal Confidence Course

mindA new course for 2014

Start date: Monday 19th May 2014

Time: 12.30pm – 3pm

Duration: Six weeks – last session is 30th June 2014

What is the course about?

“Building confidence” is an informal workshop specially designed to help you identify what causes you to lose confidence, and how to develop ways to overcome these factors. Maximum number of ten people will ensure individual attention and support. Lots of practical activities and a relaxed atmosphere.

What will you get in the end?

A clear idea of what makes you feel less confident; and lots of ideas and support to help you work on your confidence both during and after the course. You will also receive a certificate and celebrating your achievement.

Who is running the course?

The course is offered and administered by Coleg Harlech. It is an accredited course at Level One and the tutor is Gill Rossini.
